I managed to fix the stuff that was wrong. :mrgreen: The only question I have left (for now :P) is how to change the background color inside the frame or what have you.

Okay, more questions. XD
  • *How do you change the background color inside the frames?
    *How do I change the font and its color across the website?
    *Can I put the powered by freewebs bar beneath the layout image, as well as text and images beneath it?
    *How do you change the color of a link across an entire website?

First off all: Yay! For fixing some of the stuff on your own. I am so proud of you, you've shown that you're not afraid to try things on your own. Well on your way to becoming a all round webdesigner!!

Now, on with the questions:

*How do you change the background color inside the frames?
Everything that deals with how the site looks can be found in the style sheets. you have two: main.css and frame.css. In frame.css you can change the background colour of the body. But, I also see that you are linking to both stylesheets in your iframe page.

Code: Select all

<head>
<title>Blu Pen</title>
<meta content="Blu Pen" name="description">
<meta content="doll, dolls, dollz, digital dolls, pixel dolls, pixels, fashion, fantasy" name="keywords">
<link type="text/css" rel="stylesheet" href="css/frame.css">
<link type="text/css" href="style.css" rel="StyleSheet">
<meta content="text/html;charset=iso" http-equiv="Content-Type">
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="screen" href="http://s.meebocdn.net/cim/skin_v94_cim_11_16_1/world.w3c.css">
</head>
Remove <link type="text/css" href="style.css" rel="StyleSheet"> from the header of all the pages that appear inside the iframe. You will only use frame.css to determine what colour everything is inside the frame.
Right now, it thinks that main.css is responsible for the background as well. The browser is confuzzled.

To change the background colour in frame.css:

Code: Select all

body {
    background-color: #F0F8FF;
    color: #235974;
    font-family: tahoma,arial;
    font-size: 9pt;
    margin-bottom: 0;
    margin-left: 0;
    margin-right: 0;
    padding-left: 10px;
    padding-right: 2px;
    text-align: left;
}
Replace the hex-code for the colour you want in background-color: #F0F8FF;

*How do I change the font and its color across the website?
Replace the color, font-family and fontsize in color: #235974; font-family: tahoma,arial; font-size: 9pt;

*Can I put the powered by freewebs bar beneath the layout image, as well as text and images beneath it?

Yes. You have to add the freewebs bar html code in the index.html file underneath the iframe. Fine the very last /div closing tag and put it under there. If it still appears over part of your image, do this little trick:

Code: Select all

<p>&nbsp</p>
This will create an empty spaced paragraph. Repeat this as many times as you need to create the distance you like.

*How do you change the color of a link across an entire website?
You would probably want to change that in the frame.css. Links are determined by the a: tag/variable.

Code: Select all

A:link {
    color: #008000;
    text-decoration: none;
}
A:visited {
    color: #484951;
    text-decoration: none;
}
A:active {
    color: #484951;
    text-decoration: none;
}
A:hover {
    color: #FFFFFF;
    text-decoration: none;
}
Again, change the hex codes. You can also change the text decoration, so you can have it underlined or overlined... But generally just changing the colours is good enough. So a:link is general static link, that has not been clicked on yet. a:visited is if you clicked on it. a:active is when that link is currently clicked on and a:hover is when your mouse hovers over it.

See, it is basically quite straightforward :) But do ask if it is not doing what you wanted it to do, or if something else is not working properly.

But I think you're getting the hang of it, and you know more than you think you do :D

<link type="text/css" href="style.css" rel="StyleSheet">
I'm...not seeing that anywhere. Where is that supposed to [not] be? :S

I can't see to get the font to change, either. Is that tied to the first thing you addressed? :(

...I think I erased my index file.

And the link color isn't changing either.

In all the files that load inside your iframem such as main.html

http://www.freewebs.com/blupen/main.html

If you click on your page with your other mousebutton, the right one, then you can see the source code of the page. In the head <head>...</head> you will find the links to the css files. remove the one for style.css But just for the pages that load inside your iframe!

The index.html can't be deleted because I still see your site. So there is an index page.

edit: you edit the page in notepad, obviously :( then re-upload it.

Not the background color (I decided against coloring it). It's that I can't seem to get the text to change on any other page aside from the main page. I mean, without going and adding in code to each, individual page.

Code: Select all

<font color="#36454F"><h3>about the blu pen</h3>
"The Blu Pen" was created on December 3rd, 2006.<br>

<i>December 3, 2006<br>
I made a doll site. O_O Wow.</i><br>
<br>
Like most dollers, when I first made my website, I updated about, oh, every five seconds. A quick look through my older updates, nowadays, reveals that obsession has faded. (Well, mostly. I just don't say anything if I do.)<br>
<br>
I chose FREEwebs (now called Webs) because, well, it was free, and it was used by other dolling websites that I quite liked. I started out with a pre-made template, which, by now, has been deleted and forgotten. (It was a horrible layout; trust me.)<br>
<br>
My sister, Gaya, made me a layout, which was set up around May 26th, 2007. The layout doll could be easily changed, something that I felt added a bit of ~excitement or what have you, without changing the entire layout itself.<br>
<br>
But times change, and a new layout has found its way onto The Blu Pen. Set up on December 2nd 2011, we're not quite sure how long it's here to stay.

</font color>

<br><br>
<br><br>
<font color="DCDCDC">http://blupen.webs.com/
This is the code I see on your blu page. Apart from there not being a font closing tag at the end</font> I also see you have not put any text in paragraphs <p>Text</p>. I also see that though your code links to a css called style.css, it is not actually getting any info from it! Did you link to the right css file? The name of the style you are linking to is style.css.

But in my original files, I have a main.css and a frame.css. Frame.css should determine your pages inside the frame.

Is style.css an older style sheet for your site?

Are <p> tags important? ^^; I have a very limited knowledge of html and just do/use what I can.

I think I might know what's wrong. Maybe?

I have folders. Like, my main freewebs page, then I'll have a folder "about", then the links to about/site, about/dollz, about/blu.

My sister, who coded my old layout, said something about needing to put something extra? on the pages where it's in another folder. ...Do you have any idea what I'm saying? :/
