Lovein' the folds, might need some more around the crotch. Not fond of the hair/skin tone combo << He doesn't look watery or windy :T
Oh look, you had questions =O

1. I feel like they could be moved around to work better.
2. Not great
3. Good :D
4. I think the FB looks bigger
5. Unshaded and without ears <<
6. Can I just have that palette?
7. Heavy silk
8. Gimme dat palette?

Updated with hair recolor. FFFF. I hate dolling blond. XD

Mars is somehow psychic and could tell I was pondering a gradient. :0 Probably going to be working on that, soon...

WHERE IS EVERYBODY? XD (Okay, yeah, is Thursday, middle of the day, but still! <.<)

MUAWAHAHAH! critique time :D

for a wip not bad. lets seeee..
Profile: the jawline is freakin me out XD its a boy, and depending on age, so his jaw should be alot more prominent even if it is just a child. The jaw also curves up towards the ear and the line would connect with the ear (feel your jaw and you get teh idea) As for the ear, its a ok size (making it wider wouldnt hurt. kids have big ears!)
Fullbody: Love the hair from before, but i guess id have to see the body shaded. I actually prefer the golden blond but thats cus im bias against platinum blonds. i cant really find anything really amiss with teh full body :D

the fabric and folds look wonderful! im kinda with Mars on the heavy silk. adding one more color as a highlight might help create that 'silky' shine. I love how it pools at his feet!

Regarding the jawline meeting the ear, OHYEAH. <_<; I forgot about that. *facepalm* As for the ear, I was trying to keep it consistent with the FB base. But I might edit the ears on that one, so. XD

I really do need to shade the body. >>

And, okay! :) I actually already added another highlight, lol, but I'll upload it again, now. :D Thanks!

Not sure if the highlight is actually enough, tbh. >>

I have a couple tutorials you can check out on drawing children. :

http://www.idrawdigital.com/2009/01/dra ... -to-adult/
http://drawing.suite101.com/article.cfm ... w_children

For the full body:
Honestly, I think the structure is fine if you are going for the child (especially the face being rounded enough to bring the child-like features).

For the portrait, maybe if you rounded out the chest a bit(saaaay a couple pixels. Any more will be more of boobs XDD), it will look more of a child and matches the base more.

And for the face, the only difficulty I see is with the eyes. The eyes seem more frontal view or 3/4th instead of a profile.

Try looking at these things:
Image
Notice the angle set up towards the side views, and compared to the other views. Its highly helpful to display such views on children.

and some amazing tutorials on profile views.
http://omu.kuiki.net/face01.shtml
http://www.polykarbon.com/tutorials/profile/profile.htm

Thats my words of advice. I actually really like how its all coming out so far. Lovely palette for the silk! ^^

Ah, Morgana, thank you! :D I shall definitely take a look at those tutorials. ^_^ I'll poke at the idea for the chest, and, darn it! I'm so terrible at eyes from a side-view. XD Thank you~ :3

I'll work on those things.

As it is right now, which one, regarding the skirt thing? D:

Big update! @_@ I shaded the base and messed with the portrait. I tried to fix the jaw and make the ear a little bigger. How's it look? The shading passable? I need to add texture and details. ' -'

so overlapping works sometimes, but in this instance i think it makes your piece feel crowded, so i moved him over.

i like platinum blonde be a colder palatte than you have. simply desaturating the darker colors is what i did in the picture, but you can add bluish tones sometimes too. i knew one person added silver in their platinum blonde.

also, he does not look like an elemental to me at all. he looks way too human, for a water/air person i'd expect pale cold skin, but he looks peachy and flushed. even after that i feel like he might need more elemental in him. tattoos maybe? random strands of string? i dunno.

looks like a kid, anatomy is good, other than the ears which are not aligned on his head. matches the portrait pretty well.

usually when people lift their face up and stare straight ahead they lower their eyelids, i didn't do it on the picture because it looks ok the way it is, but it's something to keep in mind.

looks great so far though.

Hmmm, I actually moved away from a colder palette because it seemed too white/grey to me, and the one (good) reference image I have of him is more...pale yellow than grey? :o;;

I was having a heck of a time with the skin palette. ;_; I'll probably play with it a bit more. I apparently can't doll pale, blond, blue-eyed people. XD Which could be a problem! *facepalm* I also have a *lot* of details I still need to add in that it's kind of ridiculous; I was just trying to get the skin shading down first.

...Now that you mention it - while I did realize the ears were uneven - they really do look funny. ._. I just kind of assumed the head was tilted, but I'm pretty sure the head shape is mirrored, so I'll poke that more.

I did try to do that with the eyelids, but he ended up looking sleepy-eyed and (even more) girly. >_<

Thank you so much for the edits! :D I really like what you've done. Seems I have more work left than I thought. :shock: Eeeeep.

Hi, Blu!

Wow, I can't even imagine what it looks like now if it's advanced as much as you say it has! This is really nice! I still think that doing a little bit of watery translucency with distortion (not very pronounced, but there) would work very well. And the colors are slightly purple, so I suggest in your gradient to push it to a more aqua shade, kind of like what Marleaux showed you, but I would make it more... cool.

As for the relationship between the full body and the portrait, I like it overlapped, but a little more than you had in your first post but a bit lower.

Hmm that's it for this post. let me see what it looks like now and I may be able to help you get closer to kicking my butt. >.>
[align=center]There's a contest around here somewhere... hrmmmm..... Oh yah! I have a drag queen contest on my site! You should go look at it! NOW! And then, like, enter or something... >.>

Okay, I tried to push the hair colder still, and I pushed the skin palette some more, too. I started adding details (texture to the skin), which I think helped him look more elemental-like, but I'm not sure. :shock: I shaded under the hair, pushed the eyes more blue and more detailed, and did a few other minor things.

Tattoos are next... XD;;

*Snugs Mars* I'm going to keep it in for now until I finish the portrait doll and figure out where it's gonna go and everything. If I end up keeping the starfish, I will spend a whole lot more time on it; it's kind of terrible right now.

As it is, I've added the portrait base. How is the shading? >_< Does it look like the same character? Can I start dolling on it? D;
