Historical clothing

Post by rise13eyond » Sun Jan 05, 2020 7:54 pm

So I'm looking for some more good sources for images of historical clothing, for artistic purposes. I use them for inspiration, and google just isn't reliable. It just comes up with anything slightly relevant and half the sites it brings up don't have any pictures. I love my historical dolls to be accurate.

Okay! So generally manuscripts and effigies are gonna be your best friend, especially for the dark age to renaissance timeframes.

Reeinactors are also a wealth of knowledge, and searching "[timeframe] reeinactment" will usually get you what you want. (make sure it has sources though!)
My group references Rosalie for a lot of our 14thc stuff, for example.

Also if you come up dry, don't be afraid to message reeinactors for sources and databases. Their job is to educate, after all!
