Made some tests for her eyes but they all look horrible... -_-' or is it just me?
Also made small changing on the neck.

Btw, the full body doll is almost done! :D Just the hair and shading on the body!

I like the eyes on the 4th face a lot! I think they look great.

if no one else has posted this http://fav.me/d1jni78 I really recommend going through this pageant tutorial to make sure that you don't make the very common mistakes that first time entrants make ^^

I understand what the tutorial mean but I have no idea what to change... -_-'
To me, they look pretty similar. The only thing I'm not entirely happy with is the face of the full body. I don't like her eyes and neither her mouth. I have tried to change them so many times, and I have no idea how to make them better.

I find the first and second faces to be the most natural, though I would suggest darkening and expanding her irises to match the portrait base. The portrait base's skin tone is also considerably pinker.

Hopefully I managed to make the face match the profile doll, but she looks so weird right now...

I think you did great on the new face! As for the portrait top, I prefer the 2nd from the left. I think it is the most "business casual" & also unique at the same time. :)

Having worked on Asian face edits (see my av) and my entry as well, I got some lil pointers that might help you tweak the face into something you're happy with. The portrait base looks great already! So just a little more for the fullbase. Jiayou!

1. It's always good to have a reference on hand! Even if it's just yourself (if you're Asian).

2. Making the area above the eyelid lighter gives the illusion of a monolid or demi-monolid eyes (think shiny nude eyeshadow). I think it's because some Asians, especially Japanese, have more fat deposits around the eyes that doesn't lead to such a sunken eye appearance. It also makes a slightly upturned eye look more friendly.

3. Match the eyebrows with the hair! I find this really important. Take maybe the 3rd or 4th shade and just line your shape, and then AA extensively (try to do it more below the line to make it look natural) to make the brows look soft.

I hope this helps!!

Hmmm explaining how to shade skin in 5 seconds.

Tip 1: don't dither. It makes it look... not like skin. (Duckie can pull this off, but most people myself included, cant)
Tip 2: not everything near an outline or clothing edge needs to be the darkest shadow. This includes collarbone and knees.

I find it easiest to shade in three colors. Put down the base, which will be what most of her skin will be. This should be a medium color or medium-high light color. Then, add shading. Since she has pale skin, I would do shadows first. Where her arms go behind her back, under her chin, the sides of her knees will all be shadowy. Add highlights on her shoulders, knees, boobs, and tops of her foot. Don't use the darkest shadow and lightest color in your palette for this either. Go for the second datkest, etc.

Once that looks right, blend with other colors in your palette. Not every color is needed in every place. Some places switch from light to dark in a small space, and don't need every color in the palette.

Update on the doll. Though I don't like the shading of her skin. Base edit is one if my weak point...

There are two things that need a bit of work: the palette doesn't have enough contrast and you need to place the shades properly. I've picked two tutorials for you that I think will come in handy: Composing Palettes 1 : Draft, and Wayuki's base tutorial. Bear in mind that this is something that takes time to learn and use in your art, so don't be discouraged if it doesn't work at first. Feel free to try and post your results here for more CC.

Right now, the biggest issue I see with your shading is that you're following the shape of the outline and not the shapes that should be there in a human body. There's no muscle definition in your doll, and whether she's fit or not, there should be. That is what makes shading work, otherwise it just looks flat. Wayuki's tutorial covers how to shade bases taking all that into consideration, but you can also look for references where the models have similar poses to get an idea of what it looks like. This also applies to objects, clothing, hair, anything in your image: use the different shades to bring out or push back the parts you apply them on. Adding some highlights to the top of her breasts will bring the forward and make them look rounder. I tried reshading the skin, and this is my example. I don't pixel, so don't take this as the best example for palettes or pixel shading. However, it may help you with knowing how to place your shades to convey volume.

Image

This is a close up of her chest to show you what I mean. Instead of laying your colours around the outline, use them to bring out the shapes in her body. I used the highlights to bring forward her breasts, the breastbone and her shoulders. I have an outline of all the shades and how they follow the same shape, the close up of the doll and both images combines so you can see how they interact.

I think the blouse with the ribbon is quite nice, and it's a little dressier which I think is good. Also I don't know if you saw this but there was a little extention on the deadline so there is one extra day to get our entries done! :D

Hi...not-being-able-to-decide-Melaine here...
Having a bit trouble with picking the color for her towel. And for some reason it feels like something is missing but I don't know what. I tried to give her painted nails on her fingers and toes but it didn't really looks so good.

My eye was immediately drawn to green and pink, but I think the green compliments the red more and makes it stand out. I'm not sure what would be good to add, I'm actually having the same problem with my entry. Do I add more or just leave it as is?! Anyways though, I think she looks lovely!

I, too, would suggest number one; perhaps you could add slight waviness to her fringe as well if you would like to have waves throughout the hair?

Ups, I thought already had answer you guys... I'm so sorry :(
I did choose number 1 and I changed her fringe a little bit, so hopefully it looks more wavy now. I liked how it looks and hopefully other does it too.

Anyway big update, the dolls are pretty much completed if no one has anything they would like me to change or add or anything. I though wanted to add some stuff for the harpy-dress but I wanted to know what you guys though first.
