Can be closed- Buttons' NTD

I'm on round 2 of Next Top Doll and I'm trying to get Lou's portrait done. I thought a simple profile shot would be good for her since she has a smooth jaw and a large-ish straight nose that I think gives her character... except I'm starting to worry that it won't be interesting enough and maybe I should have done a semi-side shot like this one of Gemma Ward

I don't really think I have time to redo it since I'm ALSO trying to finish up my MDI dolls, and what I've got done so far has taken me way too long. She isn't quite done with shading and her hair and extra details haven't really be touched upon yet, so ignore that bit, but aside from that what do you all think? Is this profile shot too dull? Anything else?

Gorgeous entry! She's truly beautiful uwu And honestly I think maybe upping the contrast will be enough to make it pop, her side profile is interesting! I love her nose <3 My only crit is that I think her mouth is a tad bit too far back. Like maybe a couple pixels tops? idk it might be me *o* It really depends on ref and stuff so ignore me if you're using a ref haha

Anyways, looking forward to your entry!! uwu <3

As far as making it interesting - contrast. Contrast is your friend. If you can use a strong, striking light source, you'll definitely up the interesting factor.

Thank you, both! I'll work on adding contrast- hopefully I can get the hang of it so it doesn't look whack :P

Ruby, I had a reference in the beginning to make sure I got the proportions right, and I have used a couple different ones to help with shading, but the face wasn't based off of anything. I'll try fixing the mouth! Thank you!

I really do like her expression though. It's very fierce. I would maybe suggest having her hair slicked back and then coming back over her shoulder so you can cover that up. Otherwise you have a lot of relining to do /plus/ skin shading.

But this definitely has potential and I really hope you finish it .-.

@Bree, that's actually what I thought I might do :D Although the line work on the shoulders is just sort of there for reference right now, I'll fix them up once I get down there. I think I'll be able to finish it. I don't have work tomorrow so I should be able to finish it up tonight and tomorrow.

Okay so ROUND 3 and I'm trying to decide between two sketches. Both inspirations are little gourmet cakes by Thomas Trillion, I believe. We're supposed to create a haute couture look inspired by gourmet cuisine and I need help deciding which look is more promising. (Ignore the rough sketches and the hair. Also ignore the colors and patterns, they're just to get the idea.)

Oooh! I really like the second one! I feel like it's a more unique look, PLUS POCKETS. There's a bit more flexibility in the design as well. You could push the top into a very exaggerated slouchy cowl, or have a structured bowl skirt on the bottom.

I'm leaning towards the second as well! The slouchy cowl is a great idea and I think I'll definitely try to implement that! I'm afraid to say that I don't know what a bowl skirt is, however D: I tried looking it up but didn't get any results that made it clear to me.*

*Wait, is this what you're talking about? I do love this sort of skirt, so if I can do that sort of shape justice then I will probably go for that :D

A bowl skirt's not really a thing. I just meant make your skirt very stiff and structured so as to mimic the dome shape of the dessert instead of a more natural skirt shape. This is I think where I got the idea from:

But tbh there are a lot of different things you could do with that type of skirt to make it more couture.
