Detective Gunmetal; I'm tooling! B)

Any work that is incomplete, and needs a little critique to improve!

So I've been waiting to enter this pageant for years, literally.

Critique so far? The light and wind are going to be coming from the left. His mask is inspired by the eagle-which typically represents law enforcement, and he's going to be wearing a gunmetal colored trench coat over his formal wear, which is a vest, tie, slacks, etc. I'm thinking for the majority of the outfit I'd go black w/ white tie. Since gunmetal is a blueish gray Idk what color to blend the black with on his clothes though.

Anyways, thoughts? Also I'm going baseless! eeee

I think you may need to pump up the theme. I love the mask, but it seems a little out of place with his outfit. Perhaps you could bring in some feather decals or bird references

I love it! His shoulders in his portrait need to be broader though, especially for the size of his neck. And his arms could be a wee bit bulkier as well ;) the FB looks pretty good proportionally, at least imo

I also love that color, it's gorgeous!

Love this so far! I agree with Debb though, the theme could be pumped up a bit in the clothing. I'd hate to see you lose points over it!

Sketch looks really good so far, but be careful on the hat size in the portrait, it looks a little too small right now.
I need a new signature...

+Hat is made bigger
+more proportion in the FB (more taller torso)
+Arms thicker and shoulders widened

Honestly I might have to re-think the eagle mask b/c I don't even know how I'd add feathers to the outfit without it looking silly;;; I'm stumped by masquerade themes lol;; I'm going to mess with the design a bit so we'll see ;o; I might also end up pixeling it b/c I have no clue what I'm doing Hnng.

You could change his theme a little bit. Like maybe have his mask attached to his hat or something so he's more inspired by film noir? Or if his mask were "gun" themed that would go with the "gunmetal" color name pretty well :)

There may be other ways that you could incorporate your theme. You could have wing cufflinks or wing collar clips. You could also do a subtle wing/feather pattern on his coat. This would be particularly subtle if it was in black over the gunmetal. Feather in his hat, maybe.

Or just pull in the mask in other ways. Two silver lines down the zipper would pull in the colors better. If you were going for patriotism you could have muted stripes in red/silver/blue on his wrists.

If you wanted to keep the really dark theme, it could alternatively look cool if his suit was varying colors of black with the gunmetal coat, with black buttons, stripes, etc. Then instead of an eagle you could do a raven. That much black and you have to be really careful of the contrast though, because otherwise it just looks like a blob.

I'm not really sure how much I should say as a judge... *shifty eyes* but I really like the mask and I'm hoping you keep it! The theme doesn't need to be over the top and totally in your face, so adding little details like Phoenigette was saying would work fine. :D

*sneaks away*
