Trying to pixel some sand in a beach scene but I'm really not sure how to make it look good :O Anyone know of any good tutorials on it?

The only one I can think of is this one but it has a cartoony feel to it. If you want a more realistic look you could always adapt the steps on that to your references.

There was another topic on a beach doll that asked for help on how to pixel sand, maybe some of the tips there can be of help to you as well.

when i do sand or dirt, i use the ms paint airbrush tool. with my palette, i lay down a flat main color first, then use the airbrush tool to shade normally. after i put the whole palette down, i go back and use the main color over all of it to make it look balanced. remember to keep an outline or else it'll get fuzzy from the airbrush :D

There was an actors workshop that had some sand in it-here is a link to the page with the sand explanation on it : viewtopic.php?f=70&t=12589&start=25
Also, the next page has the results of the participants work. I participated too but my account was eaten so here was my result if you want to see: http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l169/ ... dgirl2.png

Hope some of that helps :)
