Unfortunately, I think I'll probably only have this one to contribute, but here it is :) 10 of Spades! Found a site with old fortune telling meanings and this one's meaning was "Misfortune and worry. Imprisonment. Unwelcome news." so I sort of clung to the imprisonment part XD lol

I totally have an idea for the 3 of clubs, but I don't know if I'll get around to it by tomorrow, and I am so over postponing the deadline

SO...! Anyone who still wants to enter or get theirs in by the deadline, you have till tomorrow at midnight (realistically, it'll be like 6:30 am Tuesday when I wake up before work and get online...)

I'll try and put together a basic idea of the card layouts, I want them to look like regular cards, but I wanted a spot for our names as well... maybe if everyone has a signature we could just include them on our dolls, and if not, we can write our names out and put them in the bottom right corner? any other ideas?? anyone???

Okie dokie... since our dolls are all so different, I was thinking we could make it like they're all from different decks, and we could each 'decorate' our cards. I think this is a good image size for the cards...

Image

si si?? :D

I fiddled with mine to sort of give you an example...

Image

you don't have to flip yours for the mirror image effect, but I was feeling mine was a bit plain XD but you get the idea! I'd like everyone to 'sign' theirs as well, it doesn't have to be a signature, it could just be your name in a corner etc whatever floats your boat :)

now that I'm actually looking at all the dolls together and the card outline (I made it just a bit wider/taller than the widest/tallest dolls we have) this is going to be pretty big... should we skip putting the rest in the background? I could try and make them splayed out like how you hold your cards when you're playing...? ideas anyone? suggestions? different direction in mind?? speak!! :P even if you agree with me, let me know so I know I'm not just talking to myself and that I'll be putting it all together in a way we'll all enjoy when it's done!!

That sounds like a fun idea!! We'd need to make a deadline for having finished cards in though.

As far as the whole deck goes, you could make a deck that looks like someone knocked it over, or even just a normal stacked deck of cards in the corner of the image. If you wanted it to look like a smattering of cards from different decks, you could do a fanned out hand like in poker, with each card back looking a little different, be it just color or pattern or whatever.

Just throwing out ideas, I hope it helps!!

Photoshop (and I assume GIMP probably too) has some neat tools to change perspective of cards. As long as some folks don't mind having their cards more distorted than others, it would be pretty awesome to have them splayed out or "knocked over".

What could be a good idea though is if those of us who are willing put together their own version(s) and then we all vote for our favourite?

What I meant about knocked over cards and splayed out ones is the ones we didn't doll. Also, I won't be able to do more than put my cards on backs. School is already busy and hard this semester.

*nods in thought* I like those ideas, but I too am limited on time, and (I'm assuming we're talking about only making 'backs' for cards that weren't dolled...?) so if anyone *cough* Lithuria *cough* ;P lol wants to go ahead and make a back, I'm sure we'll all agree on the finished product ;) If you're willing to do it, go for it!

The 'splayed hand' idea is the one I think I'm settling on for the dolled cards... I don't have photobucket though (or a program like it) so if anyone wants to volunteer to angle them all...? (I hope we're all talking about the same thing with this btw XD lol)

we've still got to get everyone's opinions on how to decorate each individual doll's card too... I guess if I don't hear from more people soon, I'll go ahead and decorate them myself..........

*nervous cause she wants everyone to be happy with the finished product*

...Do you ladies have an idea what ANY kind of distortion (including rotation) DOES to a pixel image...? O__o

I have to agree with Okami - disortion does no good. I think we should place them in rows, getting all fancy-pancy might not be a good idea.

What happened to the 'scattered on the table' idea...? Let's keep it simple. A wooden tabletop and the four suits as background, and the dolls can all sit, stand and float there.

Image

We have a lot of dolls and they're all fancy. IMO, there's no need for difficult backgrounds.

lol I LOVE THAT IDEA!!!

I only have one day off this weekend, so simple it is! *fanfare*

I will concoct a table-top and pixel out some ginormous background suits and 'float' us all about them *thumbs up*

I'm going to leave out the 'other cards' that didn't get done though... simple sounds veeeery nice right now ;P lol

I should be finished with it and ready to show you peeps by Monday morning :D

muahahahaha tentative dry run.....

what thinkst thou?

Does the table top look ok? Is the color too dark?

Are the suits in the background too big? Is the beveling too much? I used a darker red with the diamond and heart because when I had it a red to match the dolls, it sort of drowned them out...

should we add some text? I can't think of anything to write except something like "Glam! Poker Collab 2010" or something similarly geekirific ;P lol

I like it so far, but it seems like something is still missing...

*later edit*

I shortened the table, helped make it a little more 3D if you will XD and spaced out the dolls a bit...

whatcha think? :)

Works well for me! You can add the title of the collab on the top, across the symbols, and it'll be perfect.
