Re: Dr. Froglington, LL.D and Wumpa
I LAUGHED. XD
I have a wip. But I hate it. I'm participating in a mermaid contest where you gotta get inspired by a real fish. Or sea creature, whatever. I chose the cardinal tetra because its colors are aaawesome.

Fish reference: OMG AWESOME
Base: You know who.
I've never done a mermaid before, so wow, it's effing hard. I have no idea how to shade the tail (I know it sucks right now, but I'm too lazy to try and fix it and I'd rather have you tell me how to). I just hope you can. Bah, I know you can. Shut up, you can.
Also any idea what I should do with the hair? I mean with the color. I wanna use both the fish colors on the tail, but I have no idea for the hair.........

Re: Dr. Froglington, LL.D and Wumpa
Thanks! XD I actually knew what was wrong with most of it, I just didn't know how to correct it. SO YAY. I'm gonna work on it today. I also started another doll for another contest and as soon as I've worked on it more I'll post it here

Re: Dr. Froglington, LL.D and Wumpa

Base: Pyro
This is inspired by St Basil's Cathedral in Moscow

Don't tell me it needs aa, I know. XD I'm just waiting until I receive your comments and change what needs to be changed before I add the aa.
I'm thinking maybe more contrast..?

Re: Dr. Froglington, LL.D and Wumpa

Sorry it took me so long >.> Some more contrast on the shading would be nice, yes, if you're working with patterns that have sharply contrasting colours it's a good idea to make the shading less subtle because otherwise it tends to just disappear. Some darker shadows on the skin would be good, too, because right now the skin looks really bland compared to the rest of the doll. It'd be nice if you added some colour to the lips, too. I redlined the shoes because the feet were looking a bit lumpy, but I believe that's the base's fault and not yours, this base has really, really weird feet.
(and lemme just say I LOVE St Basil's Cathedral, so I love this doll. So colourful 8D)

WHOA A DOLL WHAT'S HAPPENING
Base: http://wish04.deviantart.com
Obviously for the Ladies of Pokemon pageant. Yes I swore to God I'd never enter a pageant again but I felt the call for some obscure reason. XD
Don't mention anti-aliasing, it's my last step

I don't really have much cc for this one... She's very cute, and definitely not too plain. Some brighter highlights on the hair would be nice though. And some darker shadows on the skin, especially under the shorts.

Re: Dr. Froglington, LL.D and Wumpa
I think it's minitut time.

Base by Silindor
So I started with the clothes and I'm satisfied with them, I also edited the face a little, and then came what I was fearing the most:
THE EFFING HAIR.
I hate portraits and I don't know why I started this, but anyway... I hate the hair, I really despise it, it looks like one giant blob. The thing is, it's my OC Sinni-Kay, she's got really straight (like ohmygoshsovertical) hair. It's not brown, it's dark blue-purple-ish, but I started with brown to shade because it's easier.
So it's a blob, and I have no idea how to properly shade it for a reason I don't understand. I've been working on this damn portrait for 2 weeks now, on and off, and whenever I let it rest for a day or two and come back, I just can't fix it. HALP.
