A warm up that went too far. Based on the doll I made for MDE and I decided to dip into her character again for some fun in a van on the way home from a music festival, Her name is Hanna. (I blame Gwen for this drawing.)

UNNNF your colours are wonderful as usual!

I was wondering if you have any tips for drawing with a variety of colours? By that I mean, not with a limited palette, say.

Thanks :D I <3 Colour but you knew that... xD

Mostly whatever it is, plan your colour palette beforehand, so that no matter how many colours you have you know they go together. And don't pick a new colour when one you already have will do. This can give the illusion of a full colour picture but in actual fact you're using relatively few. (But at the same time if you don't have one that will do, just use a new one!) Also plan your tone usage (ie dark and light) to support the composition of the piece. Its easier to use tone when you're just using one or two hues, but the more colours people add the more they forget about darks and lights and just have lots of colours of the same brightness and their piece looks dull.

I am with you 100% on this OMG. I drew something recently and didn't end up planning my colours completely. I had a hard time choosing a new palette for the background that would match my foreground and that took a lot of time.

Some gouache messing about. Worked out a little of what it's capable of on an old doll design.
(Old design here)

I love the most recent one. The horns are great. I'm a sucker for them in art.
